Andy Abraham comes from humble beginnings. Working as a refuse collector and bus driver before finding fame and fortune, Andy holds a natural charm reminiscent of the greatest soul and swing stars in history.
Andy came to prominence entering ITV ’s X Factor in 2005. After wowing the judges with his rendition of ’Greatest Love of All’ in the first round he was selected by Sharon Osbourne to progress through to the show’s final stages. Andy astounded audiences and didn’t fall into the bottom two throughout the entire series.
His incredible voice and stage presence brought life to numbers such as ‘Me and Mrs Jones’, ‘I Have Nothing’, ‘Easy Lover’, and ‘When a Man Loves a Woman’ taking him into the X Factor final, where he finished runner-up to Shayne Ward.
Following this experience, Andy continued his musical quest releasing his debut album entitled, ‘The Impossible Dream’ in 2006. Andy reached number two on the UK Album Chart selling an astounding 176,000 copies in the first week, leading to Platinum certification.
He followed this up with his sophomore album Soul Man which reached the top 20 in the UK Charts. Going from strength-to-strength Andy’s third album was released in 2008 to rave reviews with its title track ‘Even If’, spending two weeks in the UK Charts. He would go on to represent the United Kingdom, with the song, in the Eurovision Final in 2008.
Andy released his fourth album Remember When to great acclaim. A passionate and intimate recording, the album was recorded at the famous Steelworks Studio and featured tracks by the celebrated songwriter Eliot Kennedy.
All of Andy’s albums have been followed up by UK tours giving him experience in entertaining audiences of all sizes. His 2012 ‘History of the Big Bands’ tour saw him perform the hits of the big band era in an unforgettable show. Backed by a majestic 13-piece big band, Andy brought the work of jazz, swing and soul icons such as Ella Fitzgerald, Sammy Davis Jr. and Frank Sinatra to life.
Throughout his career, Andy has made countless media appearances, including on Jazz FM, Demon FM and various local and national BBC Radio stations. He has featured on television talk shows including This Morning, The Wright Stuff, GMTV and Loose Women. On stage Andy has performed in pantomime productions of Robin Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk and Aladdin, featuring at prestigious venues including the Royal Albert Hall.
In 2019 Andy embarked on a nationwide tour in tribute to the jazz and swing legend, Nat King Cole with his new show; Andy Abraham Presents: The Nat King Cole Songbook. The show saw him perform hits from Cole’s illustrious songbook giving fans from all over the country a chance to celebrate 100 years of Nat King Cole, on the anniversary of his birth. The tour proved a major success, as Andy impressed crowds on a 23-date tour that took in popular venues from London to Leicester, Sheffield to Eastbourne.
Dubbed the ‘voice of the people’, Andy is a soulful singer who performs searing soul numbers.
